My parents and Austin flew out here this past week to drop Austin off at the MTC. I'm so happy I live out here so I was able to go with them and be with Austin for his last couple of days in reality. It was so weird to drop him off, and really sad too. I'm really happy he's gone on a mission and I think he'll do great and have an amazing time, but it was sad to see my little brother go! It's going to feel so weird without him here!

Life is Busy
I can't believe it's been so long since I've updated the blog! Life is just really really, REALLY busy right now. Grant and I are both in school and working, and there's not much left for us to do. Since I want to graduate in April, I'm taking 18 credits of classes this semester, and next, and I'm working. And Grant's working even more than I am and taking the last year of his business classes. It's hard!!
But since the last time I've updated the blog, we've done so much and I want to write about all of it, and post pictures of course :)
In late July I went up and stayed with Andrea in Logan. She has a beautiful little townhouse and I loved staying with her! I can't wait til Grant and I move into a real town and live in a real house too!!
In early August, we went to Vegas with a bunch of friends and stayed at the Golden Nugget. It was such a fun trip! We left early on a Friday morning, and came back late Sunday night. During our trip down in Vegas we walked the strip and checked out all the cool hotels/casinos, we saw the Cirque du Soleil show "KA" (which was unbelievable), went swimming (and swam through a shark tank!), went shopping, and of course did some gambling (just for fun!) It was great to be able to just relax and have fun with all our friends :)
Later in August, Grant and I went home to Connecticut for about a week, and it was so much fun!! It was great to see everyone, and to be home again (without having to deal with busy wedding stuff). We just spend the whole time relaxing and having fun with the family. We went to Kent Falls one day, to the movies, out to eat, and to the Coney Island Aquarium!
Then over the first weekend of September, all of our friends were over at our place one night playing cards and we got the crazy idea to go home and get some warm clothes and blankets, meet back at our place, and drive to Wendover with a plan to stop at the Salt Flats on the way back and watch the sun rise. It was a really crazy idea....so of course we did it! It was so random, but a lot of fun. It was about 11 o'clock when we got on the road, and we made it to Wendover around 1 o'clock in the morning. That night we stayed up going from casino to casino playing blackjack (well, more like losing at blackjack) and just having fun together. At some point in the night, we went to McDonalds to get something to eat (it was the only thing open) and then around 6 o'clock we headed back towards the Salt Flats. At this point everyone was so exhausted, so most everyone just kept driving home, but Grant and I stopped to watch the sunrise. The pictures really don't do it justice - it was beautiful! And I couldn't believe there was so much salt!!
In mid-September, Grant and I floated the Provo River with Jamie and Nicole! It was something we've been talking about doing for so long, and we knew the weather was going to just get colder, so we finally went! The water was more than freezing, but we got used to it after a while and had a lot of fun. Then later that night Grant's dad came into town so we were able to spend some time with him, and even go to the opening football game the next day (which was fun for the first half, sorry - I'm a horrible BYU fan).
We also celebrated Jamie's birthday this month by going to Tucanos and the Nickelcade! Thank you again Jamie for giving us an excuse to go to an excellent dinner and spend way too much money at the nickelcade winning marshmallow guns!
And this month, we've done a ton of fun activities too! The first weekend of this month, which was also General Conference, my mom and aunts ran the St. George Marathon so Andrea and I drove down their to support them.
Before we drove down though, we went to my Granny's to celebrate her birthday!! She's so sweet because she could have done anything she wanted to on her birthday, including doing nothing and just relaxing, but what she really wanted to do was make us all dinner! So of course we all went over to eat with her and celebrate. My Aunt Debbie made her AMAZING Texas Sheet Cake (which, by the way, is so much better than the Magleby's chocolate cake) and Grant and I ran out to get some ice-cream. So it was a delicious meal! :)
Then after dinner, cake and ice cream Andrea and I drove down to St George to cheer on our mom and aunts. They all proved themselves crazy because my Aunt Kim ran the marathon after only training for two weeks before, and she had a pinched nerve in her foot, my Aunt Gaye decided the night before that she was going to run the marathon, and my poor mom ran the marathon on a stress fracture and an IT band! Crazy women...but it all turned out great - they had amazing times, and were really happy about it, and they didn't injure themselves any more! I really don't know how they did it though because I jumped in to run just the last couple of miles with my mom and the whole time I just kept thinking about how much I hated it! Running is just not for me! But anyways, here's a picture of my amazing mom after the race (and Andrea and I in our "Team Shannon" shirts).
The weekend after the marathon I went to my Granny's to begin work on Grant and I's costumes!! I'm so excited, this year we are being M&Ms! I'm making our costumes out of felt, and thank goodness I have an amazing Granny who lets me show up at her house without any notice and take over her sewing machine. I mean really, she's great! I'm almost done with the costumes now, after working on them for two weekends, and I'm very excited for the final product!!
The weekend before last, Grant and I went to Hee Haw Farms with Jamie & Nicole and Justin & Holly! We went and picked pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, watched a pig race, rode potato sacks down a slide, shot a corn canyon, and got lost and found in the corn maize. It was awesome!! I just love this time of year with the crisp weather and fun fall activities! I'm going to be sad when it's all over and there's snow everywhere. But I'm staying positive because there's still tons to do! Here's some pictures of us at Hee Haw with the giant pumpkins they use for the Pumpkin Drop:
And finally, last weekend was a blast! We threw a Halloween Party over at Natalie's parent's house in Orem on Friday night! We all wore our costumes, made Halloween shaped pizza, made pigs in a blanket that we turned into mummies and had lots of foaming punch! We also played ghost in the graveyard and other games with everyone. Then on Saturday night we went to a $1 Haunted House in Provo that was AWESOME and watched two scary movies back to back at our place. I just love Halloween :)
It's been a great last couple of months and I'm SO excited that it's not Fall and Halloween is so soon!

Inception
Grant and I finally saw Inception on Monday night!
This movie was really really good, I can't believe we waited so long to see it! The entire movie I was glued to the edge of my seat, with my hands over my mouth, just completely amazed. I couldn't take my eyes off the screen for one second for fear I'd miss something!
I think I liked the move so much because of how consistent it was. For such a complex plot, everything pieced together so well and there weren't any gaps or plot loopholes. I also thought all the acting was really really good! Ellen Page did awesome, and I'm so glad she's finally breaking out of her Juno-character.
Anyways, I wish movies like that came around more often!
