Bandit!

About two weeks ago Grant and I met up with Justin and Holly at Arctic Circle in Orem. Well we actually decided to go get food at Wendy's quick and then bring it over (because they wanted milk shakes from Arctic). So we were walking back from Wendy's when we saw this little guy running around:

He was the sweetest! He ran right up to us, and of course being the sucker I am, I couldn't just let him go running off again so I brought him over to Arctic and tied him to the playground area fence. He's such a beautiful and manly looking dog so I named him Bandit! It looked like he had gotten off his chain, or scrambled out of his collar because he didn't have anything on him except for an old truck belt. We figured he had maybe slipped away from home and someone else had found him and tied him up with the only thing they had (being the truck belt) but then he got out of that too, and was running around with it when we found him.

So I tied him up quick and went inside and got him food and water. While he was enjoying his food I called the animal control (which was closed) and then the local police. But apparently all the officers were busy, so we had to wait about 2 hours before an officer could help us out. The woman I was speaking to said we could meet the cop over at the Lindon Animal Shelter, so we loaded Bandit up in my car and headed over there.

Justin and Holly were real sports, they stayed with us the whole time while we waited. Bandit was such a good dog though, he just played with us and chilled with us the whole time! Then when the officer did finally come, he told us not to drop him off at the animal shelter because it would cost the owners hundred of dollars to get him out.

I felt so bad about that, so we did what the officer recommended and we drove him back to the area we found him: back behind Arctic Circle to the neighborhoods. We dropped him off and tried chasing him back to his home. At this point it was way past midnight and we had said goodnight to Justin and Holly. We stayed back there in the neighborhoods for almost 2 hours trying to get this dog home...and in the end, it didn't really work. Sadly, Bandit didn't seem to find his home, but he was happy as can be running all over the neighborhood. So hopefully he ended up finding his home eventually! Grant and I had to get back home and get to sleep because we were speaking in church the next day!

And just for the record, I really wanted to bring Bandit back home with me, but Grant said no :(
