As for the cookies, we started with a quarter of a graham cracker, three Hershey's chocolate squares, and one marshmallow cut in half
Then we covered the smore in cookie dough on all sides
We also had to take the cookie dough away from Jessie at one point because she was clearly enjoying it a little too much ;)
Once the Smore was covered in cookie dough we realized how much it resembled a potato, but don't worry it tasted much better.
We then baked it in the oven (and could only fit a couple of cookies on each sheet since they expanded so much)
Waiting on the cookies -- we just wanted to eat them sooo bad.
Finally the cookies were done!
And they were delicious!

The next weekend we had the Andersons, the Fillmores, and the Woods over to watch the documentary "Waiting for Superman" and we attempted the Smores cookies. The cookies turned out great again (and I really recommend trying them because they are delicious!) and the documentary was really good as well. We're now waiting on our next documentary ("Inside Job") to come in the mail so we can watch that soon too.

The next Friday we all knew we wanted to hang out, but didn't know what to do. We started off the night getting dinner at Shoots and then Jamie came up with an awesome idea for what to do next: Egg Drop Contest. We gathered up some materials and met back at our place to make our contraptions. We separated into two teams -- boys vs. girls -- and spent about 45 minutes working on our protective coverings for our eggs (each team had two eggs). After we were done we walked down the street to some parking garage and dropped our eggs off the tallest level. We started dropping them one at a time, and then each time an egg would drop without breaking, we would have to take off a layer of the protection. It came down to one egg of the boys and one egg of the girls and who ended up winning? The girls of course! :)
The beginning stages of assembling our contraption, which was made up of four long balloons tied together to protect the egg in the middle, and then added to some layers of protective coverings
Oh and we also taped it to a huge piece of foam so it would have a soft landing
The boys working in the next room on their contraption
I think they thought the plastic bag would act as a parachute
We had to wait for a while for the boys to finish before we could all leave to do the drop

Then on Sunday, Daniel, Natalie & Finn, and Jamie & Nicole came over for a lesson on finances by Grant. It was pretty great -- Grant prepared about 25 powerpoint slides and then hooked up his computer to the television so it really felt like a class. He helped the Andersons and the Woods set up their budgets both on Mint.com and through using an excel spreadsheet so it's easier to track everything week to week. He taught them about what forms and document to save and what to do with them and how to file them and a bunch of other stuff. While this was going on, I was in the kitchen experimenting with how to make a Rainbow Cake.
Okay a little preface for this: Miranda and I are throwing Jessie a bridal shower this Saturday (March 26th) and I want it to be PERFECT! We decided the theme would be 50's Housewives and much of the party is going to be about the costumes and playing the part. We're having all the girls come in costume with old dresses, pearls, lipstick, hair in up-dos, and flirty 50's aprons. Miranda and I have been working hard to think about what food we should have, what games we should play, and how we're going to decorate and we've got an awesome party planned! As far as the food goes, I knew I wanted to make Jessie a Rainbow Cake as the primary dessert because it's fancy on the outside and fun on the inside! But I didn't want my first time making the cake to be for the bridal shower, so I decided to buy the ingredients a couple of weeks ago and experiment.
Nicole and Natalie were so awesome and helped me the entire time. We first started by making the batter and then separating it into 6 different bowls and adding food coloring to each to make the 6 different colors. (This picture was taken after I emptied the batter into each cake pan)
Once I emptied the batter into the cake pans, they were ready to bake!
Since the layers were pretty thin, they didn't take long to bake. (This picture was taken right when I took them out of the oven)
Then we put them on a cooing rack to cool off for about ten minutes
And then we started to frost! Natalie and Nicole were sweethearts and made most of the frosting since I didn't buy enough at the store. We ended up just combining one store-bought tub of cream cheese frosting with a huge bag of powdered sugar, butter, and milk. It turned out delicious! (Sorry the picture is blurry)
Once frosted, we added a few strawberries on top and dusted powdered sugar over the cake for the final touches.
And then we ate! There were six of us and we couldn't even finish off half of the cake -- so I know it'll be perfect for the 20 or so girls we'll have at the bridal shower.

The next weekend was the best one of the month -- we went to St. George will all our friends and it was so much fun! Grant and I rode down with Justin and Holly and we left on Thursday around 6:30 and made it down to Holly's condo by 10:00, which was just a few minutes too late to jump in the hot tub. So instead we got settled in and then played the wii for a while until Daniel & Natalie arrived (with Finn too of course). Once they got their, we all just hung out until around 3 am, and then finally went to bed.
The next morning (Friday) we got up around 10 and spent the day swimming and hanging out by the pool, playing Bocce Ball in the backyard, playing Ping Pong in the clubhouse, and watching Deal or No Deal. For lunch we went into town and then came back and hung out together for the rest of the day until Jamie and Nicole arrived around 6:00pm. They were really hungry so we immediately ordered pizza and ate while playing an extreme game of "Around the World" Ping Pong. After dinner we all watched the movie She's the Man and played games.
The next day (Saturday) we woke up and went to a nearby park and played Tennis for a couple of hours, then went to another park to play Volleyball and play on the amazing outer-space playground. We had a lot of fun spinning each other until we threw up, haha.
[pictures to come]
We went home for lunch and to watch the BYU game. While the boys watched the game on the huge TV in the clubhouse, the girls stayed in the condo and finished Shes the Man. Afterward we all went to dinner at Texas Roadhouse, which everyone was really satisfied with, and then finished our night by playing Spades.
On the following morning, Grant and I woke up earlier than everyone else and went to church with my Grandma to hear my cousin Tanner's friend's farewell talk before he leaves for his mission to Germany/Austria/Switzerland. It was really great to see her and be able to spend some time with her (even if it was for a short while). After church we had a cookout and Justin grilled up some hamburgers and hotdogs for us while we stuffed our faces on all the treats we had brought for the weekend. And then after lunch we packed up and made the drive back to Provo.
The weekend was awesome and it went by way too quickly! Coming back to school was a harsh reality check because of the five papers I have to write and present on and the two portfolios I have to make, plus all the other homework for the rest of the semester, ahhhhhh. I just want this semester to be over so I can graduate and never have to worry about homework again! I had so much fun in St. George and I can't wait for our Florida trip with Holly and Justin -- it's going to a week long, much needed, congratulatory trip for us and we're really going to enjoy it!
Anyways, that's the update for now! Next time I post I'll write all about Jessie's Bridal Shower and how it turned out!
