New Job!

I have big, big, BIG news!! (And good news, for that matter.) Today I got offered (and accepted) a job. What's the job, you ask?

Managing Copyeditor

That's right. Your eyes do not deceive you. I am now a Managing Copyeditor!!! (And I couldn't be more excited.)

This all happened so quickly. Last night I was applying jobs, as I tend to do every night, and not really thinking I'd have a chance at any of them. Especially the one for Managing Copyeditor. Sure I've done some editing, but nothing that would qualify me for that kind of job. So this morning when I woke up you can imagine my surprise when I had a voicemail from the company I applied to. When I called them back I was even more surprised when they invited me to come in later that afternoon and interview with them. The interview went pretty well, I thought, but I still told Grant I'd never get the job. I just didn't have the right qualifications. So I was in complete disbelief when they called me only a couple hours later and offered me the position! (Actually, when the phone rang I told Grant it must be a telemarketer and I picked up rather rudely--good thing that didn't change their mind.)

Can you believe it? I'm so excited I can't sit still. I'll actually be using my degree and doing something I love! As the Managing Copyeditor, I'll be over 8 writers, managing their schedules, training them, and editing all of their work, plus a whole lot more I'm sure. I'm definitely nervous, but so so SO excited! I start right after the Thanksgiving holiday (which is great because I really need the time to brush up on my editing skills).

I'm pretty sure I'm going to have nightmares about showing up to work on my first day and the boss figuring out I have no experience, and then quickly dismissing me. Let's hope that doesn't happen.
