Every so often we make dinner and watch our Thursday night shows with our good friends Justin & Holly and last Thursday we saw this as a good opportunity to make the bowls as well as dinner. So Justin and Holly came over around 6:00ish, and Holly and I made the dinner while the boys played video games. We decided to make lasagna with penne noodles and it was really good!
It took a lot of cheese:
Ready to eat:
Then after dinner we started to make the chocolate bowls to go along with our ice-cream.We started by blowing up 6 balloons (we only needed 4, but thought we should make extras in case a couple popped)
Then we rolled the balloons in baking chocolate
It turned out to be a very good thing that we made extras because they kept popping! Notice the chocolate everywhere -- each time they popped the chocolate would splatter all over everything.
We eventually got 4 balloons to work and we put them in the fridge to harden while we watched our shows. We took a break and came and got them from the fridge to put some ice-cream in them.
It was pretty messy trying to get the balloons out of the chocolate, but it eventually worked! The only problem was there was a hole at the bottom of each chocolate bowl.
So we ended up putting them in our regular ice-cream bowls anyways...but it was still delicious!Even though they weren't perfect, I'd still recommend trying this! It was pretty awesome -- just first make sure you're wearing an apron! So many balloons popped in Holly and I's faces and went all over our clothes, the table, in our hair, and even on the ceiling!
